Global Healthcare Management, LLC is proud to announce their sponsorship of The Valerie Fund Walk and 5k Run. Ed and Sue Goldstein founded the Valerie Fund in honor of their daughter Valerie, after she lost her battle with cancer in 1976. Global Healthcare Management has partnered with The Valerie Fund with a donation in the amount of $25,000 in support of their upcoming Walk and 5k Run.
When Valerie was diagnosed at the age of three with bone cancer, there were no comprehensive care facilities for children with cancer local to the Goldstein’s. They had to travel long distances for Valerie’s treatments, which only increased the already emotional and physical toll that cancer was taking on Valerie and her family. After six difficult years of treatment, Valerie lost her battle with cancer at the age of nine. After suffering the loss of their child, the Goldstein’s decided that no family should have to experience cancer treatment for their child in the manner they did. This became their vision and their passion: to provide families with outpatient treatment centers at top pediatric hospitals in NJ, with state-of-the-art medical and emotional care in a child-centered atmosphere.
Jon Letko, CEO of Global Healthcare Management, lost his mother to cancer when he was very young and understands the impact cancer can have on an entire family. Letko’s thoughts on the partnership, “Our Company considers it an honor and privilege to be involved with the Valerie Fund. The work that is done there is a testimony to the love and kindness that the Goldstein’s have given these children that are facing such hardships, with smiles on their faces and an unlimited amount of strength and bravery every day. There are many great charities and foundations but the Valerie Fund has a hands on policy with the children that lets our employees be part of this heartwarming and amazing process. We look forward to working with the Valerie Fund and those families benefited by them.”
